Illness or a death is the second most common problem affecting workplace performance (following stress).

Grief's Impact on Work Performance

Your employees are your most important asset for running your business and keeping it profitable. Research indicates that illness or a death in the family is the second most common problem which affects workplace performance. When a death or other serious crisis occurs, on average it impacts the lives of more than 25 other people.

While 84% of companies have Employee Assistance Programs, only 10% of employees use them. A manager needs to do more than just send a grieving individual to an EAP program which only addresses part of the grief/crisis picture. He or she needs to know:
ManApartFromTeam

  • The impact of grief and how it affects the entire team
  • What to do and say in times of crisis & grief
  • How to talk to a grieving individual as well as their co-workers
  • How the team’s productivity is affected during the grieving/crisis period

  • Grief affects not only the person in crisis, but their co-workers as well

Action

  • Train your staff
  • Know resources available to you
  • Put plan in place to handle grief/crisis
If you feel you are ready to explore change and how your loss is affecting you and your team, call 973-722-9961 or send an email to support@griefcoaching.com

*Please note: These sessions are not designed as a replacement for psychotherapy or counseling from a mental health professional. If there is a need for such services, we recommend using your EAP support services in conjunction with the grief coaching sessions at your workplace.

Linda is available as an accomplished, inspirational speaker to a variety of groups and organizations. She has a number of topics that may be of interest to your group. TSalks or workshops can be tailored to your group's specific needs. Please contact Linda directly at 973-722-9961 to discuss your needs further.
